Hello,

Welcome to this week's edition of the Wealth Writer eZine!

First, I would like to wish you and your family
all the best for Easter. I find it hard to believe Easter
is here already, it seems the year just started.

This week the search engine Looksmart released a beta
version of a software program called "Grub". This software
gives participants the opportunity to take part in crawling
the web for the Looksmart index.

The software sits in your system tray and starts crawling
when your computer is idle. It is based on open source
software and is made available to all to distribute and
even modify.

An added advantage of using this software is you can crawl
your own web sites and add them to the Looksmart index. It
has become increasingly difficult to get web sites indexed
and ranked well. As search engines merge, partnerships
change and so do the rules.

I see this as a win win situation to both participants and
Looksmart. In the three days since I installed the
software, yesterday the stats at the top of my page read
"346 clients running - crawling 28,388,048 URLs in the last
24 hours"

Selling as an affiliate is a good way to get started in
Internet marketing - it can be an 'earn as you learn' approach.
Most of the professional marketers offer support to their
affiliates by way of affiliate lounges, training material
and forums.

Looking around the Internet I have noticed a lot of
affiliate sites copying merchant's sales pages almost word
for word. This isn't legally wrong, but it isn't good sales
practice either.

If you are an affiliate, your roll as an affiliate should be
to presell the product or service on your website. If you
want to do your job properly, you should be telling your
customers the advantages of using the product you are
recommending, preferably from first hand experience, after all,
you have tried tested and proven the product you're promoting
haven't you?

Your customer will arrive at the merchant's site much more
inclined to buy the product, because you, whom they trust,
have just told them all the advantages you have had by
using the product or service.

It is then the merchant's job to close the product sale you
just presold to your customer. If done correctly this makes
your job and the merchants job easier.

If you have simply copied the merchants sales page and your
customer does happen to click on the link to the
Merchants page only to find a repeat of the same words, you
run the risk of loosing your credibility AND your customer.

The advantage of being an affiliate is that you don't have to
own the products you're selling, you don't have to worry
about sales tracking or merchant bank accounts, and the
profits are usually very good - around 50%.

Affiliate selling on the Internet can be very profitable if
done correctly. Try the products or service out yourself,
make sure they are as good as they claim to be. If they
don't live up to the claims don't sell them.
