Hello,

Welcome to this week's edition of the Wealth Writer eZine!

This week I have learnt another lesson from the "school of
hard knocks". As always I have no one else to blame but
myself.

When I decided to separate my eZine publishing away from
the Net Wealth Group web site, I registered a new domain
name and found (I thought) a hosting company whose rates
appeared to be quite reasonable.

I paid for 6 months hosting and separated the entire eZine
publishing function from Net Wealth Group to The Wealth
Writer eZine web site - wonderful! That was a little over
three weeks ago.

Not long after I had moved everything I found the server
had "gone down" for quite a long time - around 10 - 12
hours. I thought "fair enough these things happen in the
mechanical and electronic world, I hope it doesn't happen
again".

About a week after that, another repeat performance, about
the same length of time again. I thought "ggggggrrrr this
is becoming a bit of a monotonous".

Late yesterday afternoon I went to my mail account and
found a newsletter from one of the worlds leading
marketers. The words in the top article seemed a bit
familiar. When I checked the authors credits, it was one of
my articles :-) Great this guy has got a mega mailing list!

In the short time from when Neil had mailed his newsletter
out, until I read my copy (about one hour), I had four
people send me emails saying they had read my article in
Neil's newsletter and could I please subscribe them to my
newsletter.

I could't believe what happened next - the
server had gone down yet again, anyone clicking on the link
from Neil's newsletter would be greeted with a blank page.
I'm sure none of them will be clicking on that link again
(blush). Oh yes and what if a search engine just happens to
decide to spider the web site? I suppose they will just pop
back a bit later when they're not too busy - SURE!

At the time of writing, the site is still down. There must
be a moral to this story - I recall something about nice
fresh chaff being a little bit more expensive than the
chaff that's already been through the horse :-)

Yes Mr Wealthrite - I do remember what you said about cheap
web hosting.

Recently I have been annoyed by such an increase in spam
email, and was determined to do something about this time
consuming problem. I have come up with a couple of ideas
which may or may not work - I'm going to try to turn the
tables anyway.

Instead of just deleting the emails, what I'm now doing is:

1)Fully open the email, highlight the from: field - right
click my mouse on the highlighted from: field - scroll down
to and click on properties and have a look at the email
address of the sender, this is usually bogus some thing
like generatemoresales7749@yahoo.com, but I look anyway.

2)Maximize the email and scroll down to the link provided
where you make your purchase - take a note of the URL at
this point.

3)Armed with the URL I go to Better Who Is:
http://www.betterwhois.com
<a href="http://www.betterwhois.com"> Better Who Is</a>
type in the Domain name not forgetting the .com .net - or
whatever the appropriate extension may be, within about 30
seconds I usually have all the details including the
correct email address.

4)Next I go to My Documents and open a new folder naming it
according to the subject line in the email eg:"15.5 Million
email opt in addresses". Within this folder I create two
additional folders named: Notification and the second one:
Invoices.

5) I then save the copy of the spam marketing letter to
which I'm responding in the Notification folder and send
the following email to the spammers correct email address.
You are welcome to copy my email and use it by altering the
relevant details:

Subject:

Thank You For Your Wonderful Offer

Body:

Hello Friend

I wish to notify you - if you continue to send unsolicited
email to my account Kerry Harrington or any email I own
You will be invoiced USD $100.00 per email message.
Should I continue to receive your mail I will take it that
you agree with my terms.
If you choose to ignore this message I have instructed
my Accounts Dept to invoice you at the rate of USD $100.00
per email.
I would like to thank you for the opportunity to earn
income while attending to the distractions and
inconvenience to myself and my staff, not to mention the
financial loss brought about while dealing with a barrage
of unwanted mail.
All records will be kept should you wish to verify invoiced
amounts.

called Notification. If I receive any further emails from
the same marketer I then send out this next response:

I have only just started using the tactics I have outlined
above so at this point can't give you any details as to how
effective my methods have been. All I can say at this time
is I have sent the second letter out once only, also at
this time I have have had no further mail from any of the
marketers I have sent my emails to.

So far the marketers I have sent my emails to appear to
have become a little shy and reluctant to do any further
business with me :-)
